NNPC, Dangote Refinery Seal New 2-Year Naira-Crude Supply Deal

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has signed a new two-year crude oil supply agreement with the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, guaranteeing steady feedstock for the 650,000-barrel-per-day facility in Lekki, Lagos.

The deal, concluded in August, aligns with the Federal Government’s crude-for-naira initiative to bolster energy security and ensure domestic fuel stability. Between October 2024 and September 2025, Dangote Refinery was allocated 82 million barrels of crude, with 60 percent, about 49.3 million barrels, supplied in naira.

Andy Odeh, NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, confirmed that crude allocations will continue under the naira framework, with volumes and values reconciled periodically with the refinery and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.

The new supply contract, valid until 2027, ensures uninterrupted crude deliveries after recent tensions when the refinery briefly halted naira-based petrol sales due to allocation depletion.
