OpenAI Acquires Statsig in $1.1 Billion All-Stock Deal

OpenAI has acquired product experimentation startup Statsig in an all-stock deal valued at $1.1 billion, marking one of its largest acquisitions to date. Statsig, founded in 2021, builds tools that help software developers test and monitor new product features. Its platform is already used by teams at OpenAI, SoundCloud, and Eventbrite.

As part of the deal, Statsig CEO Vijaye Raji will join OpenAI as Chief Technology Officer of Applications, reporting to Fidji Simo, who now leads OpenAI’s applications division. Raji will oversee engineering for ChatGPT and Codex, bringing his experience from leading consumer engineering at Meta.

This acquisition is part of OpenAI’s broader expansion strategy. It follows recent deals including the $6.5 billion purchase of io Products and the acquisitions of Multi and Rockset. With ChatGPT’s user base now exceeding 700 million weekly active users, OpenAI is doubling down on infrastructure and product scale to meet global demand.
