The Infrastructure Ministerial Committee (IMC) met on 6 February 2026 with a mandate to accelerate delivery of the Western Cape’s priority infrastructure by improving coordination, unlocking partnerships, and aligning funding with projects that are construction-ready. The committee reviewed progress across health, education, and provincial public works, confirming that several catalytic projects are advancing through defined delivery stages.
In health, preparatory work continues on the New Tygerberg Central Hospital Public-Private Partnership, while planning for two regional hospitals in the metro has progressed, with funding secured for one and professional teams appointed for the other. In education, multiple school projects are already under construction, including the Manenberg School of Skills, Sunningdale Primary School, and Dal Josaphat Primary School, all aimed at expanding learner capacity.
The IMC also assessed the province’s Single Integrated Infrastructure Pipeline of 52 priority projects valued at about R131 billion. Officials emphasised disciplined project selection, blended finance, and private sector participation to ensure infrastructure investment translates into growth and jobs.
