The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, has described the newly launched Gas Master Plan as a decisive shift from policy design to disciplined execution. He said the plan focuses on commercial viability, integrated coordination, and measurable outcomes, aimed at translating Nigeria’s vast gas resources into reliable supply, infrastructure value, and economic impact.
Ekpo noted that the plan aligns with the Decade of Gas Initiative, prioritising supply reliability, infrastructure expansion, domestic and export market flexibility, and strategic partnerships. He stressed that natural gas will serve as the backbone of Nigeria’s energy security, industrial growth, and just energy transition.
NNPC Ltd Group CEO, Bayo Ojulari, said the Gas Master Plan 2026 provides an execution driven roadmap to position Nigeria as a globally competitive gas hub. With 210 Tcf of proven reserves and up to 600 Tcf potential, the plan targets higher production, stronger power and industrial supply, and over 60 billion dollars in new investments by 2030.
