Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar Alkhorayef, has announced the Mining Infrastructure Enablement Initiative in partnership with MODON. The programme includes the Kingdom’s first 75 kilometre treated water pipeline to support mining development in the Jabal Sayid area and speed up project execution across key sites.
On investment and corporate support, Alkhorayef revealed the launch of a financing gateway with the Bank of Montreal to ease access to capital, a major constraint in the mining sector. He also introduced future minerals metrics aimed at tracking progress across the minerals value chain. Speaking at the Future Minerals Forum, he stressed the focus on job creation, value addition, and economic diversification beyond extraction.
These initiatives align with Vision 2030, as Saudi Arabia targets up to $2.5 trillion in mining potential. Over 30,000 square kilometres have already been licensed, with further large-scale exploration rounds planned for 2026 and 2027, supported by rising survey and exploration spending.
