Spain has unveiled two new funding calls totaling 405 million euros to advance its energy transition, combining renewable energy deployment with support for domestic clean technology manufacturing. Managed by MITECO and IDAE, the initiatives aim to reduce reliance on fossil fuels while strengthening Spain’s position in the European clean tech value chain.
The first programme, RENOCogen, allocates 50 million euros to help cogeneration and waste treatment plants replace fossil fuels with renewable sources such as biogas, biomass, solar, wind, and geothermal energy. Grants can cover up to 65 percent of project costs, with additional incentives for small and medium sized enterprises and projects in priority regions.
A second call of 355 million euros targets industrial scale manufacturing of clean energy technologies including solar panels, wind turbines, batteries, and electrolysers. The scheme supports new plants and expansions, reinforcing supply chain resilience as Spain scales up renewable capacity and industrial competitiveness.
