Jafurah Gas Project Set to Revolutionize Saudi Energy Landscape

The Jafurah gas project, Saudi Arabia’s most ambitious unconventional energy development, is poised to transform the Kingdom’s energy sector. With advanced extraction technologies and significant capital investment, the project aims to drive Saudi Arabia’s energy independence and diversify its economy. The project will proceed through a systematic development timeline from geological assessment to operational commissioning, aligning with the Kingdom’s long-term energy objectives.

Phase 1 of the Jafurah project targets a production capacity of 450 MMcf/d (million cubic feet per day), with commissioning activities having begun in December 2025. The project’s milestones include scaling to 650 MMcf/d by end of 2026, Phase 2 development in 2027, and full capacity of 2 Bcf/d by 2030. The accelerated Phase 1 capacity, up from the initial 200 MMcf/d, demonstrates a 125% increase in production efficiency.

The Jafurah facility will integrate cutting-edge processing technologies, enabling the efficient extraction of natural gas, ethane, and NGLs, ensuring alignment with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals for a sustainable and AI-driven energy future.
