FG, Chinese Firm Seal Deal to Deploy 500 CNG Stations Nationwide

Nigeria’s Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF) has concluded talks with China’s Endurance Group to roll out 500 compressed natural gas (CNG) refuelling stations nationwide over the next three years.

MDGIF Executive Director Oluwole Adama said the partnership will establish a government-backed Special Purpose Vehicle called the Compressed Natural Gas Auto Mobility Infrastructure Company (CAM InfraCo) to drive the rollout. The company will deploy integrated CNG stations, develop LCNG supply infrastructure, and provide CNG/LNG transportation trucks to create a nationwide virtual pipeline.

The move marks one of Nigeria’s most ambitious steps toward a full CNG ecosystem. By shifting from scattered projects to a coordinated national programme, the Federal Government aims to accelerate clean-fuel adoption, reduce transport costs, and support the Presidential CNG Initiative.

This nationwide expansion is expected to spur jobs, deepen local manufacturing, strengthen energy security, and cut emissions as Nigeria pivots toward cheaper, cleaner fuels.
