Equinix, Inc. has announced a $22 million investment to build LG3, its first newly constructed data center in West Africa, set to open in Lagos, Nigeria, in Q1 2026. The facility will feature Equinix Fabric, providing secure global connectivity and supporting Nigeria’s rapidly expanding digital economy.
The Lagos project marks the first phase of Equinix’s $100 million Africa-wide investment plan to strengthen digital infrastructure and accelerate the continent’s digital transformation. According to Wole Abu, Managing Director for West Africa, LG3 represents “a milestone in bridging Africa’s digital divide,” offering access to cloud, AI, and startup ecosystems.
Olawale Owoeye of Cedarview noted that the facility will deliver world-class reliability and connectivity for African businesses. Equinix operates over 270 data centers globally and continues to expand across Africa, leveraging Nigeria’s strategic role as a key digital and subsea cable hub.
