QatarEnergy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to deepen cooperation in the energy sector, with a strong focus on liquefied natural gas supply. The agreement was signed in Doha by QatarEnergy’s President and CEO, Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, and Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi. Under the MoU, QatarEnergy will supply up to 24 LNG cargoes to the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company during the summer period, while both parties will begin discussions on additional and longer-term LNG supply arrangements.
The MoU reinforces bilateral energy ties and provides Egypt with near term supply support alongside a pathway for long term LNG sourcing. It is expected to enhance Egypt’s energy security, support industrial activity, and underpin economic growth, while positioning QatarEnergy as a strategic partner in meeting Egypt’s expanding gas demand.
