The Osun State Government has divided the 55.6-kilometre Iwo–Osogbo–Ibadan Road into three lots to accelerate completion and improve connectivity between Osun and Oyo states. The administration of Ademola Adeleke said the restructuring aims to ease traffic flow, stimulate economic activity along the corridor, and strengthen inter-state mobility. Contractors Pecular Ultimate Concerns, Kimzee Global Resources and A’skorg Integrated Service Limited are expected to commence work following mobilisation.
In Iwo, residents have welcomed the ongoing 3.6-kilometre dual carriageway project, describing it as a significant boost to transport efficiency, safety and local commerce. According to the state’s Director of Highways, Moruf Ojebode, the first phase from Odo-Ori Market to Post Office is about 50 percent complete, with drainage finished and median and walkways progressing. Additional internal roads have also been delivered.
Community leaders praised the broader infrastructure push but urged timely completion of the Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan corridor to maximise economic impact.
