Microsoft has announced a $15.2 billion investment plan in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), underscoring its commitment to advancing artificial intelligence (AI), cloud infrastructure, and digital capacity in the Gulf nation. The investment, which spans from 2023 to 2029, reflects the company’s collaboration with G42, the UAE’s sovereign AI company, and the support of both U.S. and UAE governments.
According to Microsoft, $7.3 billion has already been deployed since 2023, including a $1.5 billion equity investment in G42, $4.6 billion in capital expenditure for AI and cloud datacenters, and $1.2 billion in operating costs. Between 2026 and 2029, the company plans to invest a further $7.9 billion, with $5.5 billion allocated to expanding infrastructure and $2.4 billion to operations.
Central to the initiative is the transfer of world-class technology to the UAE, including the deployment of advanced Nvidia GPUs. Microsoft remains the only U.S. company with Commerce Department export licenses for AI-grade GPU shipments to the UAE, underscoring strong compliance with cybersecurity and national security safeguards.
This investment signals a deepening of U.S.–UAE technology cooperation, combining innovation, talent development, and trust to foster a resilient digital economy. Microsoft says the initiative benefits shareholders, the UAE economy, and bilateral relations by ensuring the country remains a leading hub for AI innovation and secure cloud computing.
