Kwara Govt Approves Multi-Billion-Naira Projects to Drive Smart City and Growth

The Kwara State Government has approved multi-billion-naira infrastructure projects across education, roads, and sports as part of its inclusive development strategy. Commissioner for Communications, Bolanle Olukoju, confirmed the approvals on Thursday, noting they mark a major step in Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s Kwara Smart City initiative.

Key among the projects is a four-storey Senate/Administrative Building for the Kwara State University of Education, awarded to M C & T Ltd at N11.9bn for completion in 15 months. The council also approved the 15km Ojoku–Ilemona Bye-Pass Road in Oyun LGA (N6.4bn) and the N2bn Alabe–Oreke Road in Ifelodun, both vital for rural connectivity and agrarian economies.

Rehabilitation of Offa and Lafiagi stadia was also cleared, restoring long-abandoned facilities. Together, these projects are expected to enhance educational infrastructure, improve road access, boost sporting opportunities, and solidify Kwara’s position as a hub for innovation, investment, and human capital development.
