The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved new and revised road projects worth over ₦400 billion to strengthen Nigeria’s road infrastructure. Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, disclosed this after the FEC meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He said 11 memos were presented—nine for reviews of inherited projects and two for new contracts.
Key approvals include ₦43 billion for Lagos–Ibadan Expressway Phase II (Section 2) and ₦19 billion for the dualisation of Mushin–NNPC Junction–Papa Oshodi Expressway. The 162.97 km Section Three of the Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway will cost ₦3.39 billion per kilometre.
Other projects reviewed include the ₦43 billion Ilorin–Omu Aran–Egba road (Phase One), ₦52 billion Ota–Idi-Iroko road upgrade, ₦30 billion Jos–Turunkun–Maraban–Jama’a road, and ₦53 billion Ijebu–Ibu Ete–Egba–Owena road. Umahi reaffirmed the government’s focus on durable, concrete-based roads.
