Dangote Orders 1,000 CNG Trucks from BAIC FOTON

President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has placed an order for more than 1,000 compressed natural gas tractors and semi trailers from Chinese automaker BAIC FOTON. The agreement was formalised during a strategic meeting in Beijing on February 25, marking a major expansion of the group’s logistics fleet across Nigeria and other African markets. Senior executives of BAIC FOTON attended the ceremony, signalling deeper industrial cooperation.

The vehicles are expected to strengthen transport capacity for cement, fuel, and other essential commodities, supporting infrastructure and distribution operations. BAIC FOTON executives highlighted their advances in new energy vehicle technology, while Dangote praised the firm’s engineering capabilities and discussed opportunities linked to Africa’s energy transition.

The latest acquisition builds on earlier purchases of thousands of CNG trucks aimed at modernising logistics, cutting fuel costs, and reducing emissions as the group accelerates its growth strategy toward 2030.
