Dangote Group Seals 1,000 Vehicle Deal with BAIC FOTON

President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has concluded a major automotive partnership with Chinese manufacturer BAIC FOTON, securing an order of more than 1,000 commercial vehicles for operations in Nigeria. The agreement, facilitated by Kewalram Autos, is expected to strengthen the logistics network of Dangote Cement Plc across Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa. The deal was finalised during a high-level meeting in Beijing involving senior executives from both groups.

The partnership covers the acquisition of compressed natural gas-powered tractors and semi trailers to enhance cement haulage capacity and efficiency. Dangote praised BAIC FOTON’s advances in energy efficient vehicle technology, describing the collaboration as aligned with sustainability and cleaner energy goals.

Kewalram Autos will provide after sales support and help develop local assembly capabilities. Analysts say the agreement reflects rising interest in alternative fuel technology within Nigeria’s heavy duty transport sector.
