Dangote Cement has inaugurated a major new production facility in Attingué, approximately 30 kilometres from Abidjan, Ivory Coast, marking another milestone in the group’s pan-African expansion. The announcement was made by Serge Gbotta, Managing Director of Dangote Cement Ivory Coast, at Novotel Abidjan-Marcory. Sitting on 50 hectares, the plant boasts an annual capacity of 3 million tonnes, making it one of Dangote’s largest cement factories outside Nigeria and the 11th African country to host a Dangote Cement unit.
The ₦100 billion (100 billion CFA francs) investment reflects Aliko Dangote’s strategic vision for a self-sufficient Africa that transforms its raw materials into globally competitive products. The project was financed through a blend of equity and local development incentives, aligning with the group’s broader African industrialisation agenda.
The Attingué plant is projected to create over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, strengthen local SME participation, and support Ivory Coast’s fast-growing construction sector. Beyond boosting cement availability and price competitiveness, it underscores Dangote’s commitment to sustainable development and regional industrial integration.
