Airtel Africa, Vodacom Seal Infrastructure Sharing Deal to Accelerate Digital Inclusion

Airtel Africa has entered into a strategic infrastructure sharing agreement with Vodacom Group to expand digital connectivity across key African markets. Announced by Airtel Africa CEO, Sunil Taldar, the partnership covers Mozambique, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, subject to regulatory approvals. The agreement will see both operators share fibre networks and tower infrastructure to accelerate the rollout of digital services, enhance network coverage, reduce operational costs, and improve service quality.

While financial terms were not disclosed, the collaboration leverages existing infrastructure investments by both operators to maximise efficiency and minimise duplication costs, particularly in the deployment of 4G and 5G networks.

The partnership is expected to deliver faster internet speeds, more reliable connections, and broader digital and financial access for underserved communities. It also aligns with Vodacom’s ambition to connect 260 million customers by 2030, while advancing a more sustainable, inclusive, and connected digital future for Africa.
