Lafarge Africa Plc has commissioned the Freedom Plant, a state-of-the-art ReadyMix facility located in Lekki, Lagos. The fully automated plant features a remote batching system capable of global operation via secure internet access.
In line with Lafarge Africa’s sustainability agenda, the facility integrates energy-efficient technologies, emission reduction features, and the production of eco-friendly building solutions. Group Managing Director/CEO, Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, described the launch as a milestone in “Building Progress for People and the Planet,” stressing its role in boosting local demand, job creation, and skills development.
Head of Aggregates and ReadyMix, Derek Williamson, noted the plant’s strategic importance in expanding Lafarge’s footprint beyond Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Lagos. With three silos ensuring more than two days of cementitious storage, the plant is set to increase production volumes, enhance customer service, and guarantee product availability. It will also support Lafarge’s newly launched EcoCrete alongside its full ReadyMix portfolio.
